Philharmonia Orchestra concert at Queen Elizabeth Hall
» Philharmonia Orchestra concert at Queen Elizabeth Hall
Date: nov 2 2006
If you are fond of classic music, you are offered to visit a concert by Philharmonia Orchestra with Charles Dutoit as a conductor and Mikhail Pletnev performing the piano part. Among the pieces performed there are Mozart’s “Overture, Don Giovanni”, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and, finally, one of the greatest Romantic pieces by Hector Berlioz - "Symphonie fantastique", which describes the story of a young man who suffers from frustrated love and decides to poison himself with opium. The narcotic, however, does not kill him but makes him live through a heavy sleep with odd visions in which all his feelings and memories are converted into a piece of music that he hears everywhere, accompanied by musical images. After you hear such an emotional work, Mozart and Beethoven concerts will be rather a restrained contrast for you. The concert takes place November 2 at Queen Elizabeth Hall of the South Bank Centre and starts 7.30 pm. It is also a part of Dutoit November Tour.
