Grand Carnival Costume Splash Aug 18 2007
If you are excited with the spirit of the Notting Hill festival, the
event that you shouldn’t miss as a warm-up is the Grand Carnival Costume Splash,
which takes place August 18th and 19th from 12:00 noon
until 10:00pm. At the event you will be able to see the elaborate and colourful
costumes that will be demonstrated a week later at the main parade. The Costume
Splash will also feature competitions for children and adults as well as
rewarding ceremonies for the best Best King of Carnival, Best Queen of Carnival,
Best Male Costume and Best Female Costume. Due to the fact that some costumes
are too heavy to be carried all the way during the main event, Carnival Costume
Splash is a chance to see all the costumes in their totality. Note that 2007 is
a special year for the Notting Hill festival as it marks 200 years since the
abolition of the slave trade. Grand Carnival Costume Splash takes place at the
Alexandra Palace. Admission is chargeable.
