Warhol vs Banksy at The Hospital, Covent Garden Aug 14 2007
Those who are fond of modern arts and particularly in graffity and pop
art shouldn’t miss the exhibition at The Hospital in Covent Garden, as it surveys
works by two great artists head to head. The exhibition “Warhol vs Banksy”
contains over 40 works by these two artists and is aimed to compare their
masterpieces. Although they seem to be completely different (one is an American
icon of the pop art, the other is a mysterious Bristol graffiti artist) they
still have much in common, as both of them depicted vigorous bold-coloured images
and raised from underground to mainstream. To see these similarities, there
are Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe displayed opposite Banksy’s Kate Moss, and many
other works are organised in the same manner. Many of the pieces exhibited have
been lent form private collections. The entrance is free – which might be a nod
to the artists’ anti-materialism.
