Strange Events Permit Themselves the Luxury of Occurring: Steven Claydon Dec 7 2007
Strange Events Permit Themselves the Luxury of Occurring: Steven Claydon. This is the name of the exhibition soon to be presented at the Camden Arts Centre. The name was taken from a detective by Charlie Chan which appeared on screens in 1930s. Following the success of the previous artist-curator shows, this time the centre asked artist Steven Claydon to choose works for the exhibition. The exhibition serves one major topic: it examines relations between works of art and the institutions that represent them. The highlights of the exhibition are the 20-century photographs by Jacob Epstein and Alberto Giacometti, paintings by Francis Picabia and ceramics by Hans Coper. A few names exhibiting at Camden Arts Centre are: Douglas Binder, Jeffery Camp, Neil Chapman, Vincent Fecteau, Peter Lanyon… a total of more than 30 artists. The exhibition is opened 7 December 2007 - 10 February 2008.
