Annual summer feast of music and the arts - City of London Festival begins 26 June 2006. It will last for more than two weeks – till 13 July. The Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency Mr Yoshiji Nogami has become 2006 Festival Patron and a special celebration of British trading links with Japan, with world-class performances, exhibitions and events in the City’s unique range of halls, churches and open spaces will be included in the program. The festival was held for the first time in 1962 and since then offers to its guests music of various kinds, drama and poetry, installations and exhibitions of visual arts, film screenings, architecture walks and talks. Renovated Festival Club this year presents an attractive range of performances, food and drink in the relaxed surroundings of HMS President, afloat on the River Thames. It’s open from Monday 3 July until Friday 7 July. One of the main goals of the Festival is education – a lot of children from London and its suburbs present their works during Festival.
