The independently-owned first-class hotel, opened in Autumn '98, is in an ideal location on the edge of the City of London. The hotel site has a heritage which dates back to Roman Britain when the area was already at the centre of links with Europe. Significant archaeological findings unearthed during redevelopment are now with the Museum of London. The hotel has 138 air conditioned bedrooms with a range of facilities. All the rooms have satellite TV, voice mail telephone, mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, trouser press, safe (large enough to take a laptop computer), modem/fax port and secondary glazing in rooms which face onto the street. There are also six rooms for the disabled. The hotel provides five conference rooms for meetings or private dining.
