Hendon, Golders Green, Finchley and Cricklewood together
form the northern part of the Borough of Barnet — suburban north-west
London, inside the M25 but outside the centre. The area is residential
first, commercial second: low-rise houses, parks and high streets, with
the exception of Brent Cross Shopping Centre on the A41 and the Royal Air
Force Museum Hendon on the old Hendon Aerodrome site.
This is a practical base for stays when rates matter more than central
location. Rooms here run £70–£130 for three-star mid-range properties
— roughly half of what the same standard costs in Zone 1. Access is
straightforward: the Northern line runs from Hendon Central and Golders
Green direct to Leicester Square in 20 minutes; the M1 reaches the area
three minutes north for onward driving. Heathrow is 25–40 minutes by
car depending on traffic.
Chain hotels dominate — Holiday Inn, Days Hotel, Crown Moran and
Hendon Hall Hotel — with a few smaller independent stays. The area
works well for visitors combining London with events at Brent Cross, Wembley
Stadium (10 minutes west), or family visits to north-west London. Below are
7 hotels.
