King’s Cross is the interchange between St Pancras
International (Eurostar, East Midlands, Thameslink) and King’s Cross
mainline (LNER to Edinburgh, GTR to Cambridge, Peterborough, York). The
area was rebuilt over the last fifteen years around Granary Square and
Coal Drops Yard — Central Saint Martins art school in the old
granary, restaurants along the canal, new residential and office blocks
on the former rail lands.
Staying here is the obvious choice for Eurostar trips to Paris,
Brussels or Amsterdam, and for visitors connecting through on rail to
the north. The British Library sits on Euston Road; the British Museum
is a ten-minute walk south through Bloomsbury. Six tube lines run through
the interchange: Victoria, Piccadilly, Circle, Northern, Metropolitan,
Ham&C — essentially direct access to the whole central network.
Hotels range from large chain properties on Euston Road (Premier Inn,
Novotel, St Pancras Renaissance) to smaller Georgian conversions in
the side streets towards Bloomsbury. Rates are flexible — weekday
business pricing, leisure weekends and event-driven peaks (Eurostar
school holidays). Below are 8 properties.
